Portugieser du Monde, the international showcase of Portugieser producers and wines, organised by VinOliva Kft., (Pécsi Borozó wine and gastronomy magazine) was held in April 2015 for the third time.
Due to the not so favourable (as one winemaker put it: “complicated”) vintage, wines of the fresh vintage were less successful than usual, but the jury found real treasures among older wines.
The Portugieser du Monde Champion of 2015 Prize (fresh Portugiesers, vintage of 2014) was awarded to:

„Portugieser du Monde, the international showcase of Portugieser producers and wines, organised by VinOliva Kft., the publisher of the Pécsi Borozó wine and gastronomy magazine was held on 10-11 April for the third time. During the three-year history of the event, the number of participant countries, as well as the number of guests at the tasting festival event after the competition, has doubled, so the organisers of the successful world event already plan how to carry on. The competition and the festival will return next year, and there is also an intent to publish a book on the history and the current state of the Portugieser grape variety.
In the first year, 62 wines from 4 countries, last year 72 samples from 6 countries, this year 67 wines of 8 countries were submitted to the international competition. Winemakers could enter their young, 2014 vintage Portugiesers, Portugiesers of earlier vintages and blends with a minimum Portugieser content of 25%. This year, the acclaimed members of the jury (with chairman and wine academy member Dr. József Kosárka) with international competition experience arrived to Pécs from Slovakia, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Hungary as well, with the total number of 14 members.

Also, this year the number of blends was higher. The wines that received the gold prize were named champions of the competition in all three categories. The awards were presented by János Girán, deputy mayor of Pécs during the Portugieser Wine Show held in the Zsolnay Quarter.
